“Arge’s and Soble’s daily art practice created a unique and joyful record of communities in a specific moment in Atlanta’s history. These materials are a treasure trove for historians and scholars because of the valuable ways they highlight how photography and art can illuminate the American urban experience. These two collections changed the way I study Atlanta.”

“Our Archives Could Be Your Life: The Photographs of Jon Arge & Alli Royce Soble” was curated by Randy Gue.

As curator of political, cultural, and social movements collections at Emory’s Rose Library, Gue has expanded the Rose’s holdings by bringing different voices, lives and formats into the archive. New collections document contemporary art, D.I.Y culture, LGBTQ+ life, photography, and punk in Atlanta.

Gue’s collecting for the Rose Library is a continual process. If you or someone you know has photographs, journals, or other materials that tell stories of Atlanta’s diverse communities you may send a note or information to the curator by clicking the link below.
