Slavery and the University: Histories and Legacies<\/em> explores how institutions like Emory University have begun to recognize and reconsider their roles in slavery and the use of enslaved labor, including three chapters related to the Oxford College campus.<\/p>\n[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1\/3″][vc_single_image image=”2301″ img_size=”full” onclick=”custom_link” link=”https:\/\/search.libraries.emory.edu\/catalog\/9936719879002486″][vc_column_text]\n

The Accidental Slaveowner<\/em> is the first full-length book to examine the story of Bishop Andrew and Catherine Boyd in detail. The author began his research during his time as a faculty member at Oxford College.<\/p>\n[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1\/3″][vc_single_image image=”2653″ img_size=”full” onclick=”custom_link” link=”https:\/\/search.libraries.emory.edu\/catalog\/9937673596002486″][vc_column_text]\n

Emory’s Twin Memorial Project<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n

Emory University’s Twin Memorials project seeks to honor the substantial contributions of the enslaved individuals and their descendants who helped to build, maintain, and grow Emory.<\/p>\n

The Emory 1836 Project<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n

Created as part of HIST488RW\/AMST488RW: Reparatory History at Emory in Spring 2023.
